Marco Mattei
Marco Mattei was born in 1977 in the town of Sassari, where he completed his artistic studies at the Arts high school and the Art Academy, before making a return to the field of education in 2006 as a teacher in disciplines of art and art history. After a brief period spent as a scenographer and illustrator, he dedicated himself to painting, exhibiting his works regularly in personal and collective expositions since 2002.
His latest works of the series "Revolution" explore existentialist themes in a raw, figurative language: "In many new works we assist to a kind of "struggle" between geometrical forms which tend to contain the thrust of "free" forms that tangle up and soar outwards. I try to decipher the crisis and tensions of Man, eternally torn between the "rule" that reassures him and the desire to break it that makes him feel alive."
